ABOUT

Jamye Newlove

I am originally from Canada and came to Australia to further my studies. My first degree was in Behavioural Neuroscience at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. This was a wonderful topic of study and a great blend between psychology and biology. It opened my eyes to our complexity, interconnectedness and dependence to everything and everyone around us. These concepts formed the foundations of the approach I use when helping people like yourself.

During this time I developed a love for medicine and planned to further my studies in the United States. Prior to starting I went to Korea for a ‘gap year' to experience a new culture. This ended up changing my life course and I spent 4 years living in Korea and exploring South East Asia. It was here that I deepened my understanding of the body by studying various eastern perspectives on health such as acupuncture and meditation. These influences are what led me to consider Chiropractic as a career path.

This desire led me to Melbourne where I finished the Chiropractic and Applied Science degree at RMIT. I was then lucky enough to enter the world of workplace health and wellbeing where I have helped thousands of people overcome a variety of health challenges while at the same time helping  lead companies in the best ways to manage the risk associated with having sick and injured employees. With my psychology and health background I focus on proactive wellbeing initiatives in the workplace which include disease prevention, positive psychology and mindfulness....

As part of my professional development I have made a conscious effort to study with a variety of other professionals such as Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, GPs, Naturopaths, Fitness Trainers and so on. This has resulted in a very broad and rich understanding of how the body works and how to get to the bottom of people’s health concerns. Over this time I noticed most body issues we have in adulthood have their roots in our younger developing selves.

I know first hand what unattended injuries and imbalances in childhood can lead too. I now contend with an arthritic ankle, worn out knee meniscus and a stiff hip due to poorly managed injuries and growth in my childhood. This was preventable and is a major reason why I am driven to help others. My own body challenges have propelled me to figure out how to best rehabilitate my ageing body. From all this experience MoveAs1 was born. To this end my latest claim to fame is a recent completion of a full ironman. I am now training for a long distance duathlon so I must be doing something right!

On a personal note I am a dedicated family person. I like to keep life simple. I spend most of my time applying what I learn to my children so they can flourish. I am passionate about being the best role model I can for them and those I help. As a family we all like to spend as much time as we can outdoors playing, exploring and training. Everything is better when you Move As 1.
