Know Your Body
Are you wanting to get out of pain, increase your performance or promote optimal development? Read on.
For the above to happen your muscles need to be coordinated in such a way that your joints are smoothly controlled while you move about the world and the forces placed upon your body are distributed evenly throughout your body.
Sounds simple doesn't it!
In day to day life the interesting thing is the process of muscular control and coordination of movement is reflexive or unconscious. Movement just happens. You command your body to swing that golf club and it just does it. Your supercomputer (aka, your brain) does all the calculations for you.
The trouble with this reflexive act is it doesn't always happen efficiently. Even more troublesome is you can be oblivious to this lack of efficiency until at some point you experience pain or get injured.
Not fair!! You would think that for such a miraculous machine like ours we would have a better early warning system!!
The moral of the story....if we want to be pain free, prevent injury and enhance our performance we need to become aware of what factors contribute and underpin our movement efficiency so we can know when they are working correctly and more importantly what to do to get them back on line.
Fix Your Body
In step Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS)...

In the world of neurology, physiotherapy, manual medicine and rehabilitation there is a world famous school located in Prague. They have influenced a generation of rehab focused practitioners around the world (me included).
Their doctors pioneered an approach that can effectively reprogram a person's neuromuscular system which can reestablish ideal and optimal muscle coordination and control. It is based off their research into how our motor system develops.
A cornerstone of this approach is the vital importance the diaphragm and breathing has in coordinating ideal muscular control and coordination. If you want to bring your body back to its ideal state then relearning how to properly activate your diaphragm is task number 1.
This skill can then be integrated into whatever you do be that gardening, deadlifts or training for a marathon. It doesn't matter because the right type of breathing transcends any specific activity. It is a true foundational piece to optimal human movement.
Take Charge
The idea of thinking you can go to a practitioner to 'fix' you is unrealistic. To truly have a body that works well you first need to put in the time to know your own body.
The practical principles of DNS allow you to develop a keen sense of body awareness. This in turn gives you a skill set to care and develop your body for a lifetime.
We can help set you on this path so please call to further discuss how MoveAs1 can help.
PS In upcoming blogs we will further explore what underpins optimal pain free movement and what you can do to help yourself.
